Prevention: We try to prevent suicides by helping people to deal with problems rather than yielding to problems. Educating people about the dangers of addiction to tobacco, alcohol and drugs is our priority rather than treating the addicts. Preventing family problems are very important. Importance of mental health is our priority.
Intervention: We encourage people to intervene in all possible ways to help people who are going through problems such as mental illness, family problems, divorces, tobacco, alcohol, drug addiction. This includes counseling, prayer, supporting the addicts and their families through treatments too. We seek the help of professionals, hospitals and similar treatment facilities.
Research: We will be doing research and similar studies on various problems and find ways to improve prevention and intervention programs.
Awareness programs. We believe that ignorance, stigma and stereotype believes about mental illness is preventing people from seeking help for mentally ill friends and family members. We will conduct awareness programs in schools and other educational institutions, religious places such as churches, social organizations, etc. Since mental illness is a major cause for family problems and divorces, awareness programs could help many suffering families.
Library: We are developing a library so people can do studies and research on mental illness, various problems, additions etc.
Programs to change laws: We will do all we can to influence governments to change/make laws to help mentally ill people and their families. The law enforcement and court departments of governments need to look at many of the cases from a mental health angle too.
Publications: We will publish books, articles etc.to educate people about mental illness, addictions and various problems and how to face these problems courageously.
Rehabilitation programs: We plan to establish rehabilitation programs especially to help mentally ill people who have no place to go, even after getting discharge from mental health facilities. We understand that many are living in hospitals as they have no place to go .We also believe that many of these people live in inhuman conditions in homes and outside rejected by families and society in general. Most of the places for mentally ill people are not aiming for rehabilitation. The number of supporting staff is very limited due to scarcity of trained people and funds. We are aiming for rehabilitation, if there is any possibility.We want to exhaust all possibilities before giving up the rehabilitation process. We recognize that rehabilitation is a long process and a costly one.
Healthy family programs: We believe that families are the smallest unit in God's creation. This family unit is breaking up due to various reasons. Many divorces are happening because of personality clashes. So many families are breaking up due to mental illness. The partners and their families hide mental illness and the other party become the sufferer. We have programs to help such families and find all possible solutions.

ENHANCING MOTIVATION FOR CHANGE

[Motivating teachers and students for better teaching and learning.]

Basic assumption: Motivated teachers, motivate students

Goal: To develop a teaching atmosphere where teachers and students work in partnership for everyone’s good.

Motivation is not seen as static but as dynamic. It is redefined as purposeful, intentional, and positive – directed toward the best interests of the self. Specifically, motivation is considered to be related to the probability that a person will enter into, continue and adhere to a specific change STRATERGY.
THE COGNITIVE-BEHAVORAL EMPHASIS OF MOTIVATIONAL APPROCHES REQUIRES a different perspective on the nature of the problem and prerequisites for change.
[Ideological] obstacles for change: low motivation, denial, resistance.
Rather than dismissing challenging teachers and students as unmotivated, we must be equipped with skills to enhance motivation and be a partner with whom we want to help in changing.
Change is influenced by biological, psychological, sociologicaland spiritualvariables. The capacity that each individual brings to the change is affected by these variables.
Partnership of motivator and others [teachers and students] is a shared partnership and responsibility.

Assumptions about the nature of motivation:

Motivation is multidimensional
Motivation is a dynamic and fluctuating state.

Assumption: Most of the problems we face in life including that of children have roots in our mind and problems related to mind.

Goal: At the end of the seminar, participants should be able to understand the importance of mental health/mental illness.
